Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Ran the 25K Full Moon Midnight Fun Run at Lake Sylvia, located in the Ouachita Mountains.  The temperature was in the mid-80's, which is very cool for this event.  I had already made plans to run the 25K with a buddy who are carpooled with, so I couldn't change my mind at the last minute and run the 50K.  The event was well-attended for a local ultra with at least a couple of hundred participants. We started at 8:00 p.m. and the first 5.5 miles were uphill.   That was followed by 2 miles of steeper downhill running to the turnaround point.  I ran the first 12.5K in 1 hr 20 minutes and the second 12.5K in 1 hr. 9 minutes for a total time of 2 hrs 29 minutes.  My buddy Joe ran it in 2 hrs and 42 minutes, which was very good for someone who runs almost exclusively on flat roads and asphalt trails.  Overall, we had a great time and I plan to do it again, reserving to opporunity to run the full 50K next time.

Nice job! Sounds like a fun (but hot & humid) night time run. My suggestion is that you edit this post and check the box for Race Report. That will allow you to enter total distance and time which will calculate pace but more important add you to the race reports page so you can get cool comments from people much cooler than me...
